Financial Hardship and the Role of Mother and Father Support on Academic Outcomes in Early Adolescents

Financial hardship was significantly associated with grades and attendance, and support from both parents uniquely predicted grades, above financial hardship. Further, lower perceived father support, given financial hardship, was associated with more days absent from school. However, higher perceived mother support predicted more days absent.
