Using Shelter Dogs to Teach Research Method and Principles of Behavior

Dogs housed in animal shelters often exhibit behaviors that reduce the likelihood they will be adopted. We are developing an applied research program with two goals: (1) improving the adoption rates of shelter dogs; (2) training undergraduate psychology students to apply basic principles of behavior and appropriate methods of measurement.
