Abstract
We investigated if gender was related to the prescription of antidepressant and mood stabilizer medications among 98 adult inpatients. There were no significant gender differences in antidepressant prescriptions. Females were prescribed more mood stabilizers at study entry and discharge, even when accounting for symptoms, psychiatric diagnosis, and length of stay.
