Abstract
This study examined the directionality of associations between insomnia symptoms and problematic social media use among 619 undergraduates. Results, controlling for time spent on social media, sleep duration, and demographic factors, showed that greater problematic social media use at baseline predicted worse insomnia symptoms over time, but not vice versa.
