Abstract
MTurk workers completed measures of violent video game (VVG) consumption, perceived threat of crime, protective measures undertaken, and death penalty attitudes. Frequent VVG players perceived more crime in the real world, took more protective actions, and had more favorable death penalty attitudes, all symptoms of Gerbner’s mean world syndrome.
