Abstract
In a pilot study, oxytocin improved the clinical efficacy of treating major depressive disorder with psychotherapy. However, little is known about how oxytocin improves psychotherapy outcomes. Oxytocin, relative to placebo, promoted positive interpersonal behaviours in depressed participants during therapy sessions. Such findings highlight oxytocin’s potential as a clinical tool.
