Abstract
We explored whether the acquisition of communicative gestures in early infancy is influenced by bilingualism. Using parent-report questionnaires, we found that 16-month-old bilinguals had a larger repertoire of gestures than monolinguals but a smaller receptive vocabulary. Bilingual infants had acquired more gestures when French or Spanish was their dominant language.
