Abstract
Humans and rats with frontal or hippocampal dysfunction are impaired on temporal and order-based tasks. In a novel radial water-maze sequence task, rats could learn a "list" of up to seven items and made prospective errors. Inactivation of the hippocampus resulted in spatial confusion; prefrontal cortex inactivation increased retrospective errors.
