Abstract
In a high-powered experiment (N=719), we found boredom to be a pervasive experience in common self-control tasks. Both state and trait boredom were closely associated with self-control investments and costs, and diffusion modeling revealed that boredom affected performance as well. This intricate relationship between boredom and self-control warrants further research.
