Associations between Mental Health Difficulties and Alcohol-Impaired Driving Among Young Adults

Abstract
Despite the high rates of alcohol-impaired driving in young adults, little research has investigated the association between mental health and alcohol-impaired driving in this population. In a sample of 704 college freshmen, within-person increases in anxiety, but not depression or stress, predicted greater odds of same-month and next-month alcohol-impaired driving.
