Abstract

The present investigation examined everyday family social support among Chinese Americans, European Americans and Taiwanese. Our results point to developmental changes facilitating conceptualization of social support in moral terms. Different motivational tendencies appear important, with Taiwanese engaging in relational emotion and Chinese Americans adopting a functional role.
