Motivation in English Language Learning, Age, and Gender in Middle Childhood in Japan

Abstract
This study examined the link between age, gender, and academic motivation in English language learning for 282 Japanese elementary school students from grades two and four. Participants completed a measure of English language learning motivation. Overall, younger children had higher overall motivation toward English learning than older children.
