Abstract

In a sample of college students (N=70, Mage=19.5, SD=1.45, 79.2% female), working memory updating of negative words (WMU-Neg), assessed using a modified Sternberg task, was positively quadratically associated with negative affectivity. Moderate WMU-Neg may reflect an adaptive and balanced engagement with the emotional environment.
