Abstract

While graduate student enrollment continues to grow worldwide, the rate of attrition from doctoral programs hovers around 50%. Two surveys examined differences between STEM and non-STEM doctoral students in terms of psychological adjustment and professional development. STEM students report more research productivity and lower mental health than non-STEM students.
