Abstract

Does nostalgia increase empathy, and does perceived social support (PSS) mediate this relationship? In this research proposal, we describe our plan to experimentally manipulate nostalgia in a sample of American undergraduates and to measure empathy and PSS. This novel mediational model could be useful for counselors attempting to influence empathy.
