Abstract

Previous research has shown that human subjects, including highly trained clinicians, can resort to one or more mental “rules of thumb”, or heuristics, when making decisions under uncertainty. This preliminary study aimed to characterize the role of overconfidence (i.e., miscalibration or overestimation of the accuracy of one’s decisions) in mammography.
