Pressure to be Thin/Attractive, Body Image Ideals, and Self-Disclosure Difficulties with Parents, Coaches, Teammates, and Peers in Female College Athletes: A Mediation Analysis

Pressure from parents, coaches, teammates, non-athlete peers, and social media produced direct and indirect effects on difficulty self-disclosing problems to others. Self-disclosure difficulty was mediated by depressiveness and discrepancies between actual and ideal body image. Pressure from social media exerted the strongest impact on mediator variables.
