Abstract

Sweden’s Covid-19 containment strategy relied heavily on voluntary compliance with recommendations by the Public Health Agency (PHA). Individual differences could therefore influence compliance. Of the Big Five personality traits, conscientiousness was positively linked to compliance. Agreeableness, openness, and neuroticism were indirectly linked to compliance, mediated by trust in the PHA.
