Abstract
Self-esteem has been identified as a resilience factor for stress. However, recent empirical findings are mixed. We analyzed a large-scale dataset of a daily diary study conducted in midlife adults over 8 days. We did not find evidence that trait self-esteem is associated with attenuated emotional reactivity to daily stressors.
