Abstract

This research investigated the moderating effect of multiculturalism centrality on the effect of distinctiveness threat on outgroup prejudice. With an experimental manipulation of distinctiveness threat, we found that when multiculturalism was central to the ingroup identity, high distinctiveness threat (versus low threat) led to lower outgroup prejudice.
