Positive Idealization and Accuracy in Interpersonal Perception Affect the Quality of Couple Relationships

We explore the actor and partner effects of interpersonal perception considering personal meanings on relationship quality. Positive idealization of the partner predicted one’s own and partner’s own relationship quality, while being accurate in the perception of the partner’s self-image was positive for men’s relationship quality but negative for women’s.
