#Massshootings in the Media: The Relationship between Construal, Perception, and Emotion

Due to media attention of mass shooting events, the present research examined the relationship between construal of a mass shooting in the media, perceptions of these events, and emotional reactions. Findings suggest that thinking about the broader causes of a shooting strengthens the relationships between anxiety and perceived risk.
