Physiological Differences in Stress Indicators between Morning and Evening Chronotypes

Abstract

In this study we investigated differences in stress response as a function of chronotype using both cardiac (heart rate variability) and salivary cortisol measures. The pattern of the data suggest that evening types show higher levels of cortisol in the morning, which was associated with poorer task performance.
