The Effects of Patient Gender and Weight on Physician Recommendations for Total Knee Arthroplasty

The role of patient gender and weight were examined in terms of physician recommendations for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery. Results revealed that physicians were more likely to make TKA recommendations for men, rather than women, patients when the patients were reported as being morbidly obese.
