Variability of Intellectual Performance in Chess across Sex and Culture

Male and female variability is addressed with the chess Universal Rating System (URS). The change in performance is evaluated throughout eight time points in forty countries. Males are more variable in a static measure, and females in a dynamic measure. Women from countries at higher latitudes show higher variability.
