Toys in the Toybox and Parent Income/Education Influence Child Vocabulary and Language Skills

Abstract

The relationship between a young child’s vocabulary skills and ability to generalize object labels with their parents income/education and the number and variety of toys in the home were investigated. We found that parent income/education and number of toys primarily correlated with the child’s normative vocabulary.
