Abstract

We examined worry and sympathy (i.e., concern for others) as predictors of later-life sleep problems utilizing W3 MIDUS data. Worry was positively associated with sleep problems (b =.58 , p <.001 ), whereas sympathy was not. Reducing older adults’ worries, perhaps by encouraging mindfulness, may therefore increase later-life sleep quality.
