Abstract
Social distancing due to COVID-19 has strained social relationships and carries the potential to exacerbate loneliness-related negativity. Here, we show that the tendency to share positive emotions buffers the relationship between loneliness and increased negativity among those who report an average or stronger trait-level social connectedness during the pandemic.
