Abstract
Using longitudinal observational data from 420 participants, we found that greater lifetime experience of playing a musical instrument was significantly associated with better performance in the cognitive domains of processing speed and visuospatial ability at age 70, but not with less decline in these abilities between ages 70 and 82.
