Weathering the Storm Alone or Together: Examining the Impact of COVID-19 on Sole and Partnered Working Mothers

The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown the lives of all working mothers into tumult. However, we find that sole working mothers are disproportionately vulnerable to this pandemic’s consequences; Mothers’ partnership status differentially affects associations between work-family conflict, parenting stress, and work engagement, with greater negative outcomes experienced by sole working mothers.
