Is Compassion Limited or Unlimited?Beliefs about Compassion Influence Compassion Fatigue and Helping Behavior

Compassion is often limited--compassion responses decrease for distant entities, after repeated exposure to suffering, and in face of mass atrocity. We show, however, that people's belief that compassion is an unlimited resource prevents the collapse of compassion, highlighting the role that people's beliefs about emotion play in their emotional experience.
