Abstract
This longitudinal study identifies childhood invalidation as a significant predictor of internalising and externalising problems in Singapore-based adolescents. Self-compassion and emotion regulation difficulties mediated the association between invalidation and internalising and externalising problems. The findings highlight the relevance of invalidation, self-compassion and emotion regulation as targets for interventions in Singapore.
