Abstract
In two studies, participants read a scenario about the Black Lives Matter movement or the COVID-19 pandemic. Vignettes differed by only two words used to manipulate metaphorical frame (wild beast or open wound). Metaphor and political affiliation influenced participants’ public spending recommendations for social/economic and punishment/enforcement programs.
