Job Complexity Affects Exposure but Not Acceptance of Electronic Performance Monitoring

Abstract

Implementation of electronic performance monitoring (EPM) in workplaces affects employee behaviors and attitudes. We investigated whether reactions to EPM vary by job characteristics. Job complexity and industry do not affect acceptance of EPM, but employees in more complex jobs may experience more EPM than those in less complex jobs.
