Abstract

We tested the biosocial theory of BPD in a longitudinal study involving 332 Singaporean adolescents. We found main, but not interactive effects, of emotional vulnerability and parental invalidation predicting baseline emotion dysregulation and BPD symptoms. Cross-lagged paths between emotion dysregulation and BPD symptoms were significant across three six-monthly measurement occasions.
