Latinx and White Americans on Their American Identity: The Effect of Perceptions of Cultural Change on Identity

We examined the effect of cultural change on White and Latinx Americans’ American Identity (A.ID). We found no differences in A.ID between experimental conditions. For Latinxs, perceived threat of immigrants predicted greater A.ID in the cultural change condition. For Whites, perceived threat predicted greater A.ID in the no change conditions.
