Abstract
Emotional dysregulation is linked to PTSD symptomatology. The present study investigates the relationship between expressive suppression and PTSD symptom severity in maltreated youth. The results suggest expressive suppression, particularly of positive emotions, significantly predicts severity. Clinicians should teach adaptive expression of positive emotions to reduce symptom severity among this population.
