Abstract

We created the Smartphone Addiction Measure (SAM) as well as tested validity and reliability. Principle components analysis revealed several factors generally associated with addiction, including salience, mood modification, withdrawal, and conflict, providing further support for the scale as a valid measure of addictive behavior related to smartphone use.
