Abstract

We examined health protective behaviors (HPB) during early-mid stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Across HPB type, COVID-19 anxiety negatively predicted reported HPB adherence. However, for higher anxious persons, working outside-of-home predicted greater social distancing/masking and travel/social gathering avoidance. For lower anxious persons, working outside-of-home predicted less sanitary behavior (e.g., hand-washing).
