Riders on the Storm: Perceptions of Hurricane Survivors through the Stereotype Content Model

Participants were asked to describe hurricane survivors (“leavers” and “stayers”), rate their sensibility, competence, and warmth. As expected, stayers were described and rated negatively, particularly if their name suggested they were a person of color.
