Combating Environmental Stereotypes: Testing the Malleability of the Environmental Belief Paradox

Abstract
In a survey experiment, White and wealthier Americans were perceived as more concerned about environmental issues than minority and poorer Americans. Exposure to media coverage of racial and class disparities in environmental health impacts reduced the gap in perceived environmental concern between Whites and minorities and Wealthy and Poorer Americans.
