The Face of Criminality: The Effects of Race, Sex, and Attractiveness on Sentencing Length and Type

Abstract
The legal system provides sentencing guidance; however, there are disparities in sentencing when comparisons are made among race, sex, and level of physical attractiveness of the offender. This study examined the effects of these characteristics on type and length of sentence in three scenarios: embezzlement, drug possession, and armed robbery.
