Content Analysis on Diversity and Equity within Teacher Preparation Programs: A Reflection on the Changing Needs of Current Society

Abstract
A gap exists within teacher education programs and their ability to prepare educators to face diverse populations. Content and thematic analysis of courses in 29 teacher programs, findings revealed 22 diversity-related categories (e.g. ethnic perspective) and variance across programs (e.g. strong focus of disability), warranting reconsideration of pre-service teacher programs.
