Abstract
Current models of trust towards automated systems attribute stress-related variables (e.g., time pressure) to extraneous aspects of cognitive workload. Interpersonal trust links stress-state to altered information processing about trustworthiness signals within a social context. Our findings suggest stressed operators will accommodate their criteria for computer performance more readily than non-stressed.
