Abstract
The current study supports the mediating role of children’s social cognition in the effect of maltreatment on developmental outcomes. We extend prior work by showing the utility of a novel dimensional conceptualization of maltreatment and by highlighting the criticality of examining the developmental timing of maltreatment.
