Transfer-Appropriate Processing Moderates the Forward Testing Effect

Abstract
Transfer-appropriate processing was examined in a forward testing effect paradigm. Retrieval of an original word list was cued semantically or orthographically. Recall of a second word list was cued semantically or orthographically. Matching the type of cue on both tests enhanced the forward testing effect.
