Abstract
We hypothesized that poor coping skills and deficits in emotion regulation are associated with increased perceived stress in first responders (firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics). Our results indicated that difficulties in emotion regulation were marginally significant in predicting perceived stress and that emotion-focused coping styles significantly predicted perceived stress.
