Abstract
We examined the effects of moral identity internalization and symbolization on unethical behavior. Results (N = 422) revealed a negative effect for internalization but a positive effect for symbolization, and the positive relationship between symbolization and unethical behavior was stronger when internalization was low. Moral rationalization might explain these effects.
