Math Anxiety Is a Mediator of the Relation between Gender and Math Achievement

Abstract
Using data from 389 undergraduate students, we hypothesized that math anxiety would mediate the relation between gender and math performance. This is exactly what we found. Additionally, in all five strands of mathematics measured, there was a significant indirect effect from gender to math anxiety to math performance.
