Abstract
College student participants evaluated the truthfulness of 5 statements made by 8 “targets” who varied in race (Black or White), gender (male or female), and facial expression (smiling/not-smiling). Several findings emerged, with perhaps the most compelling finding illustrating how Black persons may suffer comparatively when displaying a stoic expression.
